Methil is a coastal town in the Kingdom of Fife, situated roughly an hour north of Edinburgh. The docks of Methil played an important national role during WW2 and thereafter with the booming coal and steel industry of the area. The docks gave Methil an early reputation for unseemly behaviour which worsened in the 1980’s when the mines closed and the area became increasingly desolate. Today Methil is again the part of an international industry as it hosts a windmill construction site and the biggest off shore windmill in the world. These recent developments could potentially bring a change for the better to Methil and the area, but until then it just remains an overlooked Scottish town, like many others.
